How many moving bags you need for one bedroom
One ordinary adult bedroom takes eight moving bags. The count covers a stripped bed, folded clothes, the top closet shelf, and shoes, with room left for awkward shapes.
Packing the bed and linens
Two bags take care of the bed. A thick winter comforter, two pillows, and a pair of sheet sets will fill the first bag to the zipper. We cut each bag to 29 x 14 x 13 in, which holds over 23 gallons, so bulky bedding settles into the corners without jamming the seams.
The second bag takes extra blankets, guest towels, and mattress covers. Stuffed with fabric, it stays soft enough to wedge into narrow gaps in a van, but it will not support heavy items stacked on top.
Emptying the closet and drawers
Folded clothes and hanging garments take three bags. Jeans, knitwear, and heavy hoodies fill two bags easily. Because each bag carries 65 lb, you run out of volume long before you reach the limit of the 180 GSM coated PE fabric.
A third bag holds hanging shirts and dresses folded over once in their bundles. The long zipper lets you lay garments flat, so you spend less time ironing when you unpack in the new room.
Clearing the shelves and shoes
Shoes and shelf clutter take two bags. Footwear goes into the first bag, lined up along the bottom in pairs. You can layer ten to twelve pairs of shoes if you wrap the dirtier soles or place them in basic covers first.
The second bag is for soft shelf items like hats, handbags, belts, and extra cushions. Do not fill this bag with hard books or framed photos, because soft totes shift under weight and offer no rigid shell for breakables.
Handling the last loose corners
One final bag catches the loose items left across the room on moving morning. Laundry hampers, curtains pulled from the rods, desk throws, and bedside mats go in here. This brings your bedroom total to eight bags.
